End of 2019 Highlights

As the end of 2019 rapidly approaches, and the new year is nearly upon us, it’s is a great time for us to reflect on our work this past year, serving the underserved.
The Shakti Mission just celebrated it’s one-year anniversary, and we have made tremendous progress thus far. This mainly because of great friends, generous donors, and incredible supporters like you. Thank you for making a difference in so many lives.
We rounded up just a few of our favorite things we worked on this year to share our success with you.
– We end 2019 by providing 100 seniors with a weeks worth of groceries.
– We served over 2,000 Hotmeals in Guyana

– We provided 785 families provided with weeks worth of groceries
Friends, join us in 2020, as we do our small part to fight poverty and restore dignity to the underserved. We cannot do this important work alone.

Please consider sponsoring a meal program at a senior center, feeding a family in Guyana for a month for only $50 and/or volunteer your time with us.
Wishing you peace, love, light for 2020 and beyond.

Pizza Day At The Dharmshala

This weekend our coordinator, Angali visited the residents of the Dharm Shala with pizza and gifts. Many were excited for the much needed supplies of clothing, toiletries and snacks. As part of our ongoing efforts to feed the poverty stricken citizens of Guyana, we are committed to providing this service every month.

The Dharm Shala is a humanitarian organization that has been serving the people, in Guyana, for 98 years. It is said to be the country’s longest running Charity.
The concept of the Dharm Shala came from the late Pandit Ramsaroop Maraj, who saw the plight of the destitute and made it his life’s work to serve his people. The Dharm Shala focus was to serve individuals who were homeless, sick or had no place to go. It would offer free housing, meals, clothing and medical supplies.

98 years later, Pt. Maraj’s dream lives through the Maraj family and the caretakers of the 11 Dharm Shala’s across Guyana.

The residents are also in need of medical supplies, self care products and clothing. Please join us in supporting this amazing humanitarian organization!
